About Julie

Thank you for viewing my website and considering me to be part of your journey.

If you would like to know a little information about me, here is a quick picture into my career, life and personality.

While I was attending San Jose State University for my Bachelor of Arts in Psycology and then my Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, I provided counseling and therapy to teens on juvenile probation and dual diagnosed adults in an in-patient drug & alcohol rehabilitation facility.  I was also living full-time as a house manager in a home for adults recovering from substance dependance.  After graduating in 2005, I started working with Starlight Community Services.  There I completed my internship working with children, adolescents, young adults, parents and families, and then provided clinical supervision for Associate Marriage & Family Therapists, while providing therapy for clients in my part-time private practice.  After 15 years at Starlight, I recently left to persue full-time private practice and to care for my elderly parents.

I have also experienced pain, loss, trauma, and difficulties not only in relationships, but in developing my own self-esteem.  Through therapy, the support of others and determination, I have learned to manage my moods, accept my imperfections, and continue to challenge myself towards growth.  Practicing and embracing acceptance, commitment and gratitude has empowered me to have a life with satisfaction and joy.

As for my interests, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and cats.  I've always enjoyed arts & crafts and have taken up rock painting as my hobby.  I have a casual presence, so you are likely to see me with my Chucks on.  I have several tattoos that speak to my love of art, animals, compassion, love and world peace.   I'm a big San Jose Sharks and hockey fan.  Fantasy, thrillers, superhero and science fiction are my favorite TV, movie and book genres, however a good romantic comedy can steal my heart.  Nature touches my soul, especially the cool breeze in the mountains or the sound of crashing waves on the beach.  I prefer rain storms to hot sultry days.  Maybe most importantly,  compassion, equality, and the well-being of humanity and life are deep core values for me.

I hope this gives you an idea of who I am and I look forward to getting to know you.  I would be honored to work with you to help inspire your change and growth along your journey to a more satisfying and happier life.

      Most Sincerely,

          Julie
